50th wedding anniversary at the Bitter End Yacht Club – 2004

b319

Bebe & Howie decided to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary by inviting their family to spend a week with them at the Bitter End Yacht Club in Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.

Each day began with a buffet breakfast at the waterfront. Our first day included a boat trip to two special snorkeling locations in other parts of the islands. Here is the whole gang (minus photographer) ready to board. At our first location Kristen began taking photos with her disposable underwater cameras. She caught Bebe from below. She also managed to snap a sea turtle cruising beneath the surface.

We spent part of each day sailing boats from the large selection available to us at the BEYC. A favorite was a small Hobie catamaran. Also available were a whole fleet of Boston Whalers that we sometimes used for a picnic on a remote beach. Travis was good at picking out the ones with the most horsepower.

Kristen, Morgan and Colin took scuba diving classes one morning and were able to make their first dive that afternoon. Kristen caught some of the underwater action including this one of Colin.

After breakfast on our last day we suceeded in getting all 5 Carrigs in one place at one time for a family photo.

On our last evening Colin provided an escort to a hospitality party followed by a dinner celebration and dancing. Here is what the sunset looked like that evening.

With some help from another guest we were able to get an after dinner photo of all 9 of us. Departure took place early on the following day.
